For my first blog post, I thought I’d start by writing about the TV show I most recently watched – Jack Ryan! FYI: The blog might have some spoilers!!
So, I was very excited when the show came out in 2018 and couldn’t wait to watch it as I am a huge fan of John Krasinski (Well who doesn’t love Jim Halpert and his smirk!!!) My roommates and I started watching the show the day it can’t out and totally loved it only to realise that one of my roommates played the last episode of the show instead of the first! It was so disappointing as we couldn’t go back to watching the first episode after seeing what happens to all the characters!
After this, the show has always been on my list of things to watch but I somehow couldn’t get myself to sit through such a serious show! I then got myself to do it 3 days ago, after almost 2 years worth an additional season added to the show! Thankfully I didn’t remember much of the show and was able to enjoy it like I’m watching it for the first time!! I binged it for 2 straight days – a season each day and believe me, it was exhilarating!! It’d been a while since I had watched something so captivating but my goodness, this was worth me waiting to forget the plot!
The first season basically deals with this upcoming Islamic terrorist organisation headed by Suleiman, a Muslim in France who’s orphaned along with his brother at childhood as a result of a bomb blast. He has a business degree and is trying to lead a good life but is faced with racism and in a drastic turn of events gets arrested for assault on some cops and makes a conscious decision to turn into a terrorist for the sake of his people! Suleiman, played by Israeli actor Ali Suliman is an amazingly written antagonist and an even better performance by the actor!
Suleiman, who isn’t on the CIA’s radar is brought to attention by the lead character Jack Ryan (John Krasinski), who works as an “analyst” for the State Department (or so he claims). The chase for Suleiman along with certain hints of how an endemic could be weaponised to how it all ends keeps you on the edge for all the 8 episodes! ( I don’t want to give away a lot of information and have have restricted to talking about the main plot in detail!)
The second season starts off with Jack’s character currently working for the senator. A slight deviation from the actual storyline, John Krasinski has a beard guys!!Aahhhh!!!! Anyway, this season deals with more diplomatic relations and politics between the United States, Russia and Venezuela. The antagonist in this season is the president of Venezuela, who is a self cantered politician who’s ruined the country’s economy even though they have some of the world’s richest resources! There’s a lot that happens in this season – especially the first half where it takes the audience a while to get to what exactly they’re trying to figure out in the show!! And since it gets quite interesting, I don’t want to day much about the plot!
My endorphins were so high when I watched the first season that I went for a run after as I felt super hyped! I couldn’t wait to start the second season, which I did the next day! The second season kind of starts slow as it deals with the diplomatic politics and it takes a while for the show to pick up! And if you’re bingeing the show like I did, it is slightly disappointing! However, each season individually are a great watch! I’m pretty sure if I’d watched the second season by itself, I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more!
So…yes personally I really enjoyed the show and would definitely recommend to binge it! Loved every bit of it, slightly loved the first season better but if you’re a fan of John Krasinski and love action thrillers, this is a great watch!!
Sober this is my first post, and feedback would be highly appreciated and I would love it if it was constructive criticism rather than just bashing me for my writing or thoughts on the show! Do leave a comment and let me know how I did and what needs to be changed and if there are any shows/movies that you’d like my opinion/thoughts on!
XOXO! Until next time!
